Cautious first team return date for Sakho
Diafra Sakho could make his West Ham first team re-appearance against Huddersfield on September 11.
Sak made his return to action on Saturday in the behind-closed-doors clash for the under 23s against Spurs on Saturday, coming through with no problems and a smile on his face.
The Senegal hit man was subbed after an hour and was desperate to stay on the pitch having enjoyed a really good run out and now hopes are high he will at least be back on the bench for the Hudddersfield game.
Those who watched his return against Spurs have said he looked as fit as he has in a long time and the signs look good at this stage that he could enjoy an an extended first team run this.
A cautious September 11 date has been put on his return but one insider added: “If it was left to Diafra he’d be on the pitch for the opening game at Old Trafford.
“He’s positive, happy and pleading to be given his chance of match action -it’s great to see him in such a good place. It all looks fine at this point.”
Winston Reid also emerged from the game well and is in line for a call up against United.

Diafra Sakho has had to be removed from Slaven Bilic's squad for tomorrow's season opener against Manchester United, after rupturing his achilles whilst answering a phone call from Bilic, telling him that he'd made the squad.

Diafra Sakho has been included in Slaven Bilic's squad for tomorrow's season opener against Manchester United.
The oft-injured forward is back in the first team squad for the first time since November 2016 having come through pre-season with no further setbacks.

Best poacher since Cottee? Since that hot streak at the start of his time with us, he's missed loads of sitters, at least 3 in one game away to Stoke season before last.

Rumour was that he was going to make an appearance at Ricay tonight, not on the teamsheet though.
I had a stroll over there but couldn't get in as it's a sell out!
There's 4500 over there and we're 2-0 down....

Sakho's goals to games ratio is slighty better than Carrolls at around 1 in 3. That's not too shabby.
Hernandez's is 0 in 0. So in theory he is our best striker...for now. And I don't count friendlies.
I would love to see a fully fit Sakho back. However I just can't see it.

Sakho does lead the line and run the channels well, but you're mental if you think he's the best striker at the club, let alone league.
If you asked the 92 football league managers in the country, 91 of them would rather have Hernandez up front. He can thank Tony Pulis later.

Just get the impession that Sakho has burnt his bridges with the club and they will be looking to get rid asap.
Hope I'm wrong as I'm a big fan and obviously if he plays and does well the bridges can easily be rebuilt... just have the feeling that getting rid is the current plan.

Sakho is a massive player for us - if only he can stay fit.
It's no coincidence that our best performance last season - away at Tottenham - had a starting line up with Sakho up front (with Ayew).
I was at the game. Sakho was magnificent. He chased down every ball, got into the faces of Tottenham's defence and gave them no time on the ball. He forced them into making mistakes, which got the WHL crowd on their backs and unsettled them.
He has an energy and aggression that we lacked in so many games last season. He's also a great finisher, especially with his head. The boy can leap like a salmon.
I know he's reported to have problems in his personal but I certainly didn't notice that impacting his game at Tottenham. Frankly I don't care what issues our players are dealing with as long as they deliver on the pitch.
Getting Sakho back fit is as good as a marquee signing as far as I'm concerned.

He needs to be more ruthless in front of goal but when at his best he is a menace and his work ethic and movement give defenses a hard time.
I'd love to see Sakho get goals this year and maybe even part of a front two but I'm not convinced he will get much time under Bilic even if he does stay fit.
Shipped out in January is more likely.

When he's been fit, which in fairness he has not been for a long period of time, but he is undoubtedly a fantastic player. To be honest, I see him as a midget Drogba, making up for height and strength with energy and movement, Unfortunately there are obviously seems to be numerous psychological and physical reasons why he firstly came to us from a lower league French team and secondly is currently worth less than Kyle Walkers left bollock.
If he can one day see beyond his personal bank balance & decide that he wants to surpass the majority of other African millionaire footballers, he is (in my opinion) a better all round forward than Javier Hernandez. Unfortunately, I have huge doubts that he will ever back up my opinions.

Sakho has shown himself to be one of the best players in the league (which I guess means Europe) at leading the line, running the channels and making space for the creative players behind him. He was the missing piece in the jigsaw in the our final season at Upton Park and if he was fit, we would have got the extra few points needed for Champions League football.
He is probably the best all round centre forward we've had at the club since Kanoute. Not a great deal of competition, but the fact remains that in 15 years, there are not many I would start in front of him. If he was fit to start on Sunday, in my mind he starts in front of Hernandez. Obviously this can & probably will change once we see Hernandez start, but if Bilic persists with the lone front man, I don't see Hernandez as a player who will run his nuts off and create space for others, he is a goalscorer, for him to reach his potential Bilic will need to tweak his tactics.
